New conceptual work - using textures from our #deathofanoven

This last weekend we got our oooooold oven/stove/microwave replaced.  As we yanked it out and started tearing it down I noticed JUST how insanely dirty it was.  When the appliance is inside its comfy nook, you cannot see the GREASE DRIPS down the side!  I always knew - since we moved in there HAD to be grease somewhere there....because of our cabinets having some of it.

What i didn't know was just how fun these textures would be in my conceptual work!  
I took a variety of images to gather for future art....
the future...was TODAY!

Here is the back story.

As you can see - a vastly different age and color change here! :) 

I loved that old stove...I really did!  But we had pretty much used it til death.  

As we were dismantling the whole thing - the door was taken off...the microwave detached and all the pieces just lay in our driveway until moved to the front for pickup.  Here are some of the textures I grabbed!

It looks like a COMPLETE mess!!!!  I'm not sure who owned or rented the house before us - but there was soooo much grease. :)  We didn't even see how crazy it was in there until we moved it out! :) 

That all being said though, we really enjoyed this stove that was there in our home when we moved in.  We didn't even have to go buy one.  :)  It was a bonus being newly married and having one appliance already there.

Kick the tires and LIGHT the fires!!!!

I've always loved that phrase from TOP GUN! hahahah :) I'm ending my year here today...in full thankfulness-  no regrets.  Forgiveness for myself and others.  Passion to start a new day, a new year.  Ideas to inspire, encourage and ASPIRE to be all we can be.  

On Christmas Eve my husband and I spent time alone out in the boonies.  We lit our first fire pit fire...and enjoyed a freshly FROZEN cold front while "camping" outside.  While watching the fire, I realized how amazing it was.  The colors, the steady glow and the HEAT it gives off to keep you warm.  I didn't want to be cold...I WANTED to be warm! :)  

As I end this year....I intend to light my own fire and help others light THEIR fires!  The fires within BURNING to tell the stories, make the art and BE all you are supposed to be.  I'm challenging myself to go beyond my capabilities and embrace something bigger than myself.  It is ALL scary, but you know I feel I've been in training for a lot of this.  AND still have lots of training to do!

How many times do you want to AVOID going through something because it is too hard, too emotional, too painful?  Well, it is TIME to go THROUGH it.  The path is right through that dark spot where things lurk to grab you, potholes wait to trip you....but you can make it through!!!!!  I'm excited about your path just as much as I am about mine.  So, let's WALK this together!!!!!

She wanders the path....in darkness and light.

She wanders the path in darkness in light.  Her soft presence calms even the most disturbed creature of the night.  Her walk is swift and soft and her voice carries throughout the trees.  The path is set before her with lamps placed strategically so that each step finds some illumination.  Her laughter makes the frogs cry.  Her tears make raindrops and dew on the blades of grass.  Moving forward is her only option.  Embracing the uniform of her spirit and heart she glides towards the curve.  The mystery that awaits her gives a sense of anxiousness and peace all in one.  Finding moments like these are irreplaceable.

This is a teaser story image from my time in Pennsylvania.  I really can't explain how I felt about this trip and the adventures that we took.  I found the most amazing spot that NO ONE had ever heard of!  I was so happy to find this.  I could have created here for days.  I now have to go back.

Light in a dark dark place.

I've been thinking a lot about the world!!!!!
And I've been thinking about soooo many dark things that happen....
and yet, I find beauty and peace in knowing that I (and you) can make a difference with positivity, light, laughter and love.  Love is a powerful factor that we can overlook sometimes.  When something is happening and we don't understand....when the world feels out of control...and we hurt for the HURTING....

Find the light inside you and bring your brilliance to the world...
even if you have a small shimmer - that light against the DARKNESS is so bright...it can't be denied.

Take heart knowing you aren't alone.  There are other lights out there....igniting other lights....igniting other lights....igniting other lights. 

Slow down.
See you.
See them.
See the world.

Then create out of this madness.
Create out of this love.
Create out of these things that drive you...that startle you...that hurt you...

The worst thing you can do is put away your feelings into the darkness of your heart.
Let them out into the light...see them for what they are....

and BE.
