TEASERS from the Lord of the Rings wedding!!!!
Welcome to the small teaser blog from the Lord of the Rings wedding! They had soooo many cool items, decorations, themes and LOVE. I am always inspired by couples that really try to be themselves during their celebration. This day was as unique as THEY were. :) I can't wait to share more with you! But for now...enjoy some more teasers!
Let's catch up shall we?
I do have a lot of things to share and write about....but I will get to Promoting Passion another time. ...I do have much to share on that topic as well as some images I enjoyed making.
Today's blog....
Will the mountains speak just as much as the ocean?
I find complete peace in the sounds of the ocean. I cannot explain it...I just know it. Every chance I get to STARE into the ocean...I will do it. My last stare-session was in Maine this summer....with at least several different types of beaches I got to visit. It was a huge personal accomplishment for me as my adventure is to always go see a few new places and maybe meet some new people. Well, I did it! Enjoyed many version of the waters.
Enter the MOUNTAIN of the Promoting Passion Convention....
When I was at the Promoting Passion convention we were completely covered in fog/rain for 4 solid days with the 5th day being an open sky with clouds moving fast out of our way. It is called "Heavenly Mountain". Now I felt a different connection there. After being shielded from view for days...I was able to stare out and see just why they called them "blue ridge". Just amazing really.
I hope to report back these next 2 weeks about the mountains I'll be experiencing and the ART we will make from them. I still remember the first time I flew to Seattle and sound the GRAND mountain staring back at me. I said hello. It smiled back.

Here is a time lapse I did of our stay there...in key points of our viewpoints on the sunniest day of the trip. I stayed a whole extra day to enjoy the area....and boy.... did I!

Inspiration for "Resident Evil" photo shoot last summer!
I'm going to share my inspiration for last years' photo shoot with the always AMAZING Jane Love.
I took an idea/look from the opening cinematography scene of "Afterlife" and ran with it. I just love re-creating or having fun with ideas spawned by characters that already exist.
Here we have....the lady in the street....
We were able to pull this off in my backyard in pitch black of night. We matched the wardrobe as closely as we could and then she turned "zombie" for me! Thanks Jane for always rolling with my ideas!!
Love Jen

Finding yourself in all your creations.....
Today,
I'm inspired to post a simplicity image that means a lot to me! As I
was working here on the beach area of the Two Lights State Park - we
both saw this "cavern" looking area and I asked her to crawl carefully
over there and we moved through a few poses to see what would capture
this story.
As we moved in and out of thoughts - I realized that where she was positioned the sunlight glow simply "peeked" onto her face and parts of her body. The surround cliff environment gave me that feeling of foundation - yet that "cave" gave me a feeling of a dark spot needing light.
How much more so is my heart...that I must illuminate the dark places and see how God can heal the hurts within me crying out for light. I took this image and I'm good with it. I love how the light is teasing us in the darkness. It consumes her with whatever part of her body hit the light. It is the ultimate forgiveness and moment where I realize - this is me.
I'm so thankful for where I have come from. I celebrate the freedoms of my heart and mind that I didn't have 15 years ago. I am greatful to the support of many others around me on that same journey. May you find your illumination in the darkness...and never give up!
Much Love to you

Top FIVE reasons why you should make time to attend a Creative Retreat!!!!!
We can all experience burnout and enter survival mode. What takes us to the breaking point? Where do we blur the lines of doing too little or doing too much? How can we "rest" in all of our madness of daily life?
A Creative Retreat is a time set aside for building up confidence, rest and peace in our lives! It is a SECURED and sound time of imparting into each other as creatives and building up our energy level.
Here are my top 5 reasons you should MAKE time to attend a Creative Retreat!
A Creative Retreat is a time set aside for building up confidence, rest and peace in our lives! It is a SECURED and sound time of imparting into each other as creatives and building up our energy level.
Here are my top 5 reasons you should MAKE time to attend a Creative Retreat!
#1 – Finding
hidden dreams: When we are busy
with life we forget to dream. Maybe the
dreams are so deeply buried that we think we don’t have anything else to pull
out! A retreat helps you focus into your
dreams and dig them back out to shine!
Your dreams are unique only to you and only YOU can access them!
#2 – Meeting fellow dreamers and creatives!: There is nothing like making new and inspired
friendships all over the world. When we
sit with each other and share our dreams you find connections with others you
may never have had before! Sometimes, in
those relationships we find more of who we are and are inspired to help and
encourage others!
#3 – Quiet time : There are a lot of artisans that think this
is a foreign language. With the
household chores, family and businesses…we don’t know what “quiet time” really
means. A retreat gives you that
opportunity to carve out time set aside for quiet and reflection. One of the most powerful things that fills us
up…is quiet time. Don’t run from it,
embrace it and you will find your heart singing and welcoming you into a deeper
peace and rest than you have ever experienced!
#4 – Stretching
your imagination!: A creative
retreat can introduce you to new techniques, new tools and innovative idea
makers that bring you into a new level of understanding your craft and
yourself. Even doing the SIMPLEST tasks
you can find inspiration and growth throughout!
Sometimes the BIGGEST idea is in the smallest tasks.
#5 – Restoring a
sense of FUN: We sometimes get
so caught up in our personal rules, regulations and daily grind – we forget to
have FUN. A retreat can re-introduce
that child-like wonder and adventure that we all crave but don’t allow ourselves
to enjoy. When was the last time you did
something or went somewhere with just the point of making an adventure? A creative retreat gives you that opportunity
to create your OWN adventure as well as a group experience.

Customized Artwork - Wedding clients!
I am so fortunate to meet many amazing people while capturing weddings. Todd and Michelle were no exception! They had a very unique wedding and also had a very unique art request! They are both particular about what they like - and it was so great to actually get a chance to create for them and what they wanted. I took several wedding images of rings, a flower and their chocolate heart candies to create this masterpiece for them!
The final result was a stunning 60x40 canvas ready to hang on their wall.
Attached is the image of my happy customer!
Thank you SO MUCH for letting me create for you!

The sparkles in the water.................
In 2014 I was able to see a lot of my true heart-dreams come true. I worked hard every day to keep focused on those particular dreams so they wouldn't die! In September I had the pleasure of visiting Cape Cod and on that trip I took a detour through Rhode Island and Connecticut. We don't often talk about those states down here in Texas unless you are from there. For me, I immediately thought of the movie 'Mystic Pizza' and decided that was a dream to fulfill. As silly and as nerdy as it sounded - I wanted to experience that. So this adventure through Rhode Island was on the way to Mystic, CT. (yes the pizza place is real!)
My assistant and I stopped along the waters of Rhode Island on the way to the train station in Providence and these were the moments I was able to capture while standing on the dock. At first I was completely in shock! The bright stars DANCED on the top of the water and didn't stop moving one bit. They were blinding! I pulled out my camera and HOPED that I could capture even a fragment of what it looked like! I had never seen anything like that in all my adventures with the water and sunlight. The video footage tells a better story HERE.
The sparkles in the water were a wonderful reminder to stop and be thankful for creativity and how all things work together for a grander purpose. We have dreams that we write down...and dreams that we live without even thinking about it. The biggest challenge you can give yourself is daring to look INSIDE yourself and dream the impossible dream and then LIVE the impossible dream!
Today's Questions:
-Have you fulfilled a life-long dream yet? Why or why not?
-Is fear stopping you from making a leap?
-What is ONE particular dream that you think about all the time? Why have you not done it?
To DREAM more join me at the Ladies' RETREAT - July 24-26th 2015. Open for 5 women!
Below are some of the photography stills from the moments on the dock! I will never forget this small memento of a time in my life where I was living a dream.

Pathways....
I am so excited to share this with you! I was tinkering around last night and really had a blast creating this image. There is so much inside of us to share...and when fear tries to stop us from the simplest of creations...we HAVE to stand up and walk forward. There is a huge world of eyeballs and hearts out there waiting to grasp the creativity floating in the air and rivers.
I've noticed fears can stop us in a variety of ways, but most of the ways starts with our MINDS. Before we even speak positively or negatively about ourselves and our work...our thinking is already there. As an artist and human being, it is our job to WEED OUT those thoughts. To dwell on only negative thoughts sets you up in a box as a captive. To dwell on positive thoughts takes you to many places, faces and dreams. There is something to be said about walking in a living dream.
Your art takes you into your dream world and back out into the reality. One of my biggest passions is to help you understand that and let yourself dream AND DO THE DREAM. Even the smallest of ideas deserves to be in your life canvas. Don't let any tiny giant fears hold you back. Yes, I said "tiny giant"....our fears are masking as GIANTS in our minds, but really they are tiny...it is up to you to slay the giant and turn your focus upon what really needs to happen.
Take some time today and reflect upon your own fears and giants. What needs to GO today. What needs to leave your mind, so you can be FREE to take your ideas forward?
I look forward to hearing from you about where life is taking you...and where you are letting yourself go as an artist!!!!!
Much Love
Jen

New art and ideas!
I'm still playing around with a new prop that arrived today. I fully intend to make a skirt out of it. For today's "playtime" - i made a full character. I didn't mean to do it but my original ideas spawned a new idea! I just love letting things flow and go.

BOLDLY going where no one has gone before.... 2 things I learned from STAR TREK!!!!!

2 things I learned about life from Star Trek
To BOLDLY go where no one has gone before....
These words ring out from the TV screen every single episode. The
original series of course had a slightly different word, but the truth
remained - they were BOLDLY going somewhere. They were BOLDLY going
into the unknown and uncharted territory.
This rings more true to me than EVER for 2015! I am personally doing
more things in the unknown than ever before and it is quite scary! Have
you been on a journey into the unknown for yourself? How did you
feel?
One thing that takes me back to the sense of ADVENTURE in all of this is Star Trek. One of my childhood favorites. I had the pleasure to do a photo opp with Nichelle Nichols who played Uhura in the Original series. I was SO excited to meet her in those brief seconds! I felt as if she was a wise person who lived not only on the show but beyond that into the road she has walked and the things she may have faced. I am so glad I made the effort and "trek" to go see her! :) Seeing someone's heart as a WHOLE is a treasure. How often do we really stop to enjoy the adventure and see the hearts of those we meet?

#1 - FRIENDSHIPS....
![]() | |
Models: Becky Heath - Destiny Lenora - Styling/MUA by Becca Jett Photo: Pink Light Images |
You will meet the most unlikely of friends! In the many adventures they
encountered so many different people, species and aliens. I found
that in those adventures they found friendship, love and challenges
within
each scenario. In your life, you too will have opportunities to meet
people that seem like unlikely friends...but taking the time to get to
know them - you can have a deeper understanding and connection to them
AND yourself.
(the joke in this image is that
the starfleet officer and the Borg were getting along) lol!!!
#2 - NEW worlds!
![]() |
Model: Carrie Sumner MUA: Kanixa Branch Photography: Pink Light Images |
When you step out of your comfort zone you encounter a new world... a
new challenge! The atmosphere you step into could be easy or a bit
harsh. You could need a space suit or be ok breathing the air of this
new space!
The point is to BOLDLY step out and embrace what is set before you to
EXPLORE and let yourself learn and grow through the new environment.
You have what it takes...so get to EXPLORING! Experience the awe and
wonderment and all the emotions that come with
it!
ENJOY YOUR WEEK!
