Homage to the Potosi Methodist church....which burned down this past weekend :(

It was brought to my attention by my clients that the church they were married in barely 3 years ago just burned down this weekend.

There were a lot of things I loved about this space!  It was cute, over 100 years old and was full of history.  When you spend time in smaller towns - there is something to appreciate about a simpler life.  Less clutter, less noise and more community.

I wanted to share some of my favorite images from the space as an homage.

All images taken by Pink Light Images

And here is the article about the church: Memories shared after Potosi Church Fire

Enjoy....

I took this through the doorway stained glass window.  It was a super super tiny pane.
The windows where I made the image!
Some sweet memories from a historic building.
Sending my love out to you Potosi for your loss.

My best memory was being able to have an opportunity to capture a wedding there and on that trip was able to also see my grandparents.  It was amazing! Thank you for the hospitality.

Much Love,

The sparkles in the water.................

In 2014 I was able to see a lot of my true heart-dreams come true.  I worked hard every day to keep focused on those particular dreams so they wouldn't die!  In September I had the pleasure of visiting Cape Cod and on that trip I took a detour through Rhode Island and Connecticut.  We don't often talk about those states down here in Texas unless you are from there.  For me, I immediately thought of the movie 'Mystic Pizza' and decided that was a dream to fulfill.  As silly and as nerdy as it sounded - I wanted to experience that. So this adventure through Rhode Island was on the way to Mystic, CT.  (yes the pizza place is real!)

My assistant and I stopped along the waters of Rhode Island on the way to the train station in Providence and these were the moments I was able to capture while standing on the dock.  At first I was completely in shock!  The bright stars DANCED on the top of the water and didn't stop moving one bit.  They were blinding!  I pulled out my camera and HOPED that I could capture even a fragment of what it looked like!  I had never seen anything like that in all my adventures with the water and sunlight.  The video footage tells a better story HERE.

The sparkles in the water were a wonderful reminder to stop and be thankful for creativity and how all things work together for a grander purpose. We have dreams that we write down...and dreams that we live without even thinking about it.  The biggest challenge you can give yourself is daring to look INSIDE yourself and dream the impossible dream and then LIVE the impossible dream!

Today's Questions:
-Have you fulfilled a life-long dream yet?  Why or why not?
-Is fear stopping you from making a leap?
-What is ONE particular dream that you think about all the time?  Why have you not done it?

To DREAM more join me at the Ladies' RETREAT - July 24-26th 2015.  Open for 5 women!

Below are some of the photography stills from the moments on the dock!  I will never forget this small memento of a time in my life where I was living a dream.

Pathways....

I am so excited to share this with you!  I was tinkering around last night and really had a blast creating this image.  There is so much inside of us to share...and when fear tries to stop us from the simplest of creations...we HAVE to stand up and walk forward.  There is a huge world of eyeballs and hearts out there waiting to grasp the creativity floating in the air and rivers.

I've noticed fears can stop us in a variety of ways, but most of the ways starts with our MINDS.  Before we even speak positively or negatively about ourselves and our work...our thinking is already there.  As an artist and human being, it is our job to WEED OUT those thoughts.  To dwell on only negative thoughts sets you up in a box as a captive.  To dwell on positive thoughts takes you to many places, faces and dreams.  There is something to be said about walking in a living dream.

Your art takes you into your dream world and back out into the reality.  One of my biggest passions is to help you understand that and let yourself dream AND DO THE DREAM.  Even the smallest of ideas deserves to be in your life canvas.  Don't let any tiny giant fears hold you back.  Yes, I said "tiny giant"....our fears are masking as GIANTS in our minds, but really they are tiny...it is up to you to slay the giant and turn your focus upon what really needs to happen.

Take some time today and reflect upon your own fears and giants.  What needs to GO today.  What needs to leave your mind, so you can be FREE to take your ideas forward?

I look forward to hearing from you about where life is taking you...and where you are letting yourself go as an artist!!!!!

Much Love

Restore Hope Ministries and special guest speaker Miss Kay

We're all here to learn from each other AND teach each other....for me...i won't turn down any opportunities to meet and work with people of all kinds....

I think the greatest words she had to share today was simply about finding HOPE....which was fitting because "Restored Hope" seems like an action statement to me...we have options to have HOPE restored to us...in unbearable situations...and folks that have been through WAY more things than I have.

I can't even begin to judge someone based on a glimpse of actions or words...I choose to look a little deeper...especially when I get the opportunity and take the time. I have always been that way. I was the girl always picked on because i was new. I was the girl who had the ONE friend (in every school i attended as a child) that took the time to get to know me (and i them)....it is when we do that...we see the beauty in ALL OF US.

Have a super friday!!!!

more NYC teasers...................

Soooooooooooooooooooo
i'm attempting to follow through with one of MANY projects......

One being our trip to New York City in June.

Model: JANE LOVE
Photgraphy: Pink Light Images

Another DREAM realized!!!!!

I have been making art for years and years and years...probably dating all the way back to Kindergarten when my teacher said i was "very creative, but messy".  I do love the creative process. It can get really messy really fast and ideas can either come quickly or sometimes you have to SEARCH for them.

For years, I wanted to put my images on shirts.  Maybe it is that inner-fashionista but I like the idea of wearable art.  When I signed up on See.Me to get my artwork out into the world I had never opted to try their t-shirt art until now!   I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and it came today.  I had almost forgotten I ordered it!  I knew it would look really great and professional because it is not silk-screened or an iron-on like I've done in the past .:)  It looks like i'm literally wearing the art I made. ahhh!!!!!!!

So the backstory on this image can be seen HERE.

But the meaning of it all was so special today...because I'm centering around PEACE and letting everything else fall to the wayside.  This week is about embracing the creativity I find in peace and not chaos.  I will find it however I can...but this week I'm pretty chill!!!

Check it out!

To order yours:  CLICK HERE
You can choose from any art pieces I have online to make one for yourself.  I think I will be adding more images just for the sole purpose of ordering some wearable art!!! <3

ENJOY!

Create.Now. - August 1 2014

I decided before I sign off for the day..........I wanted to play with a new landscape.

I am enjoying the exploration of dark/grit.

These are images of mass prop-age.  I have ideas to use "props" as part of the scenery.  Some are wayyyyy more subtle than others...but you get the idea.

I found myself in my home thinking - what would make a good prop/landscape?

Well, I found something....

More to come later on this.

But first, STARE AT IT.

Fall Creative Retreat - Dates announced!!!!!

As I was completing the wonderful mission of the creative retreat this month...I started searching for the next feasible dates for the NEXT one.  I believe that we always need to "check-in" with ourselves and learn how to access our treasures.  I have been working non-stop for this whole month and really embracing the uniqueness and ideas that come with this assignment.

I truly am beginning to see all the things that hold hands together to form our creative spirits!!!  So, the next dates of the retreat have been announced!  I already have the registration page up, but I can give you early-bird pricing for the month of August. :)  Because space is limited to FIVE women only - we have a chance to have in-depth moments of conversation, creation and so many more things that access your treasures within.  Every single retreat will be variably different as inspiration is a full-flowing-river that you just JUMP into when ready. :)

When you sign up, drop ALL expectations and walk into the unknown with me!

In creating the IMAGE below:
These were moments of fear, moments of darkness and of heat and rain.  We had a mixture of environmental cues hit us on this day in moment of the shoot.  The sensitivity of the environment lends me to create thoughts and ideas into images that speak to me as a person.  Our art SHOULD speak to us! The question also is, are we listening?  I got a sense of FEAR because it was unknown territory.  We had walls that blocked us from ACCESSING our true creative spirit.  The heat of the moment poured down my face and I could barely keep up with the energy that was driving me forward into that blank space.  The moment I embraced my environment I was able to relax long enough to create images that brought an out-worldly feel directly into my heart.  It is THIS out-wordly feeling we try to create when we leave our comfort zones.  In the immediate future (yes, we are time travelers)...those next moments can bring a torrential downpour and lightning storm.  You've heard it said to "dance in the rain"....but how often do we sit inside and just watch.  We don't participate and we don't ENGAGE the rain.  I invite you, dear FIVE women....to embark on the next creative retreat...where 2 days...will help you to, ARISE.

Here is our new graphic for the Fall....  SIGN UP HERE

My artwork seen in TIMES SQUARE NEW YORK CITY, July 24th.

As a result of entering a competition and art show, I was able to show SIX of my images in the See.Me #takeover in Times Square New York City.

I wasn't able to go there in person but I was able to sift through some of the photos that were posted to find 4 pictures out of the 6 I had in the show.  Because the billboards were SO LARGE some of the pictures they took were hard to make out.  I did find ONE though which make me super super happy!!!!  The new photo galleries online were great quality - so i still have TWO more to find!

Thanks to everyone that believes in me and my work.  I have a great time going on adventures in my mind to create pieces that are MEANINGFUL and thought-provoking.  NYC is one of my favorite places - so I would love to see my work go there more often!!! :)

Here are the images I've found so far!

reaching for YOUR creativity!

We talk a lot, we write blogs, we live life.

Sometimes too many times through OTHER people.  We get so caught up in staring at others' images when what we should really be doing is working on our own ideas and crafts! :)  I love inspiration just as much as anyone else - but sometimes there comes a time to sit still and partake of the river of creativity flowing past you.  It can come in an idea, a vision in your mind, a movie, a lego batman game.....

I had a lovely friend stop over today....we had discussed the same shoot last Saturday but she was unable to make it.  So, we rescheduled as I'm thinking ahead for a sci-fi themed art show coming up in August! Well, i really can't be my own model all the time.  I just have more fun letting it flow without me hitting the remote all the time! :)  Or "selfies" u know. :) heeheheh

So....we had some things we started with and things we ended with....

There is a lot more to come, but we tried to use some crafts and props in ways you wouldn't normally think about.  Sometimes the ideas work and sometimes they just don't!!!  But I'm always trying.  An idea can form through 3-go-throughs til I find what fits right.  I still have a small handful formulating in my mind that I want to try and pull off.  All in good time....

Speaking of TIME - you have to allow TIME for your creativity to come through....
Have you ever noticed that sometimes the "magic" comes in the last 15 minutes of say that HOUR you devoted to shooting?  ME TOO. :)

Today was no different...we had a blast playing....
and I look forward to more art....

Monday, the end of the photographer's weekend! :)

Don't take your light for granted. Let it shine in the darkness and let it flow into the rivers of creation...

I felt that I wanted to devote some time to the weekend pictures we took out in the park in Richardson.  I have been truly inspired by the DRESS I found at Boston Costume and thankfull I know the best porcelain doll model here in the metroplex. :)  Destiny Lenora.

I have really been exploring thoughts, places and characters.  I have a long long way to go - but I find that just simply CREATING before the story inspires me.  I tend to write the story AFTER I create.  I like seeing just how organically things can come together within that experience with my model and then that ENVIRONMENT we worked in.

By "environment" I literally mean everything around it.
-the textures of the rocks
-the tatteredness of the dress
-the long creepy hair
-the reflection in the water.
-the fake "smoke" i made with a touch of flour.
-the quietness and stillness of this space.
-the feeling of spirit and "ghostliness" when we pre-discussed characters.
-embracing the colors but being open to completely THROW THEM OUT for the next chapter in the story.

"Don't take your light for granted. Let it shine in the darkness and let it flow into the rivers of creation." - Jen Sulak

How has your personal homework been going?
Did you learn something new to try in your images?

Let's share!

From this experience I was reminded - please use BUG SPRAY around still waters!!!!!

Thank you
Love you
KEEP CREATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend inspiration.....

I have had some ideas sitting in my mind...and finally tonite I was able to get together with Destiny to try out the new dress from Boston...AND....actually try to throw flour.  I've seen a gazillion people do it...and a gazillion great images from it.  I wanted to make my own experience and just try it.

I found throwing it was harder than it looked...depending on how much or how the wind took it...but it did make this NICE CLOUD effect that was quite awesome.  These are only testers and teasers...but I wanted to share!!! :)

our first time to be in this place with this dress and this scene. :)

First time to throw some flour and work on the fly with learning to use it!
I will have additional pieces that come out later-  but for now I just wanted to play with my brain a bit, maybe play with YOUR brain a bit....and move forward with creativity.

Sometimes you are sitting and watching the river flow.
Sometimes you are swimming in it.

Don't ever be too hard on yourself!  You are a creative unique being - and you have a lot to give!  But also remember those times to receive. <3 :)

You are loved.

Art Releases.....

She dances in her own light to her own rhythm.  Despite storms and winds she prevails and takes flight.

This is a small series I did with Jennifer Bernal on a whim....I love her willingness to help create something out of nothing.  I love that we could get together and spend some time creating and taking images that would forever be some favorite moments from our lives.

Thanks Jen. :)

"I was told there would be no math" - Stopping the division, we are ONE.

We as peoples tend to do a lot of math in this world..................

if you are divided against yourself- you cannot stand. No matter how much photoshop you use - you cannot stand. When your division multiplies...you still can't stand. You can be many one-legged peoples trying to stand on your own - yet you can't. You started divided and multiplied divided. Come back to being whole - and stand with wholeness, not division.

Blue Man Boston *drum art* :)

So! as you may or may not have seen or known....I went to Boston this past weekend and a part of my journey included a trip over to the Charles Playhouse to see Blue Man Group.  I had seen most of the venues (w/ the exception of international) but never had seen or been to Boston.

As part of my job fee my clients included a ticket to see the show and I was happy to oblige when they set me up for the poncho seats! :)  I was overly-joyed also knowing that a Blue Man whom i've known and seen perform for MANY years was going to be there as well!  I had been joking that I really didn't know a single soul in Boston! :)  You can see some of my pre-show pictures here....

BUT FIRST - you can also hear part of my story on the VIDEO!!!!

I really enjoy the fun and colorful installations they have going yet also giving us that "vintage" blue man vibe w/ the tubes and other hynotic lobby music.  I REALLY wanted that lobby music!!! It was so peaceful and tranquil.  Most things in the show went just great....as per usual!  The drum art they made was super super fun and of course splashed with great awesomeness and passion!  As they went into the next skit to make the spin art and marshmallow art - I had forgotten they gave away the DRUM ART!  So on the left you have someone getting the spin....in the middle someone gets the drum art...and on the right OF COURSE someone gets to take home the marshmallow sculpture in their purse! hah!!!

I had already eyeballed the blueman pre-giveaway and was overjoyed when he gave it to me. I'm not going to say no...nor am i shy about asking! HAHAHAAHAHA

As I got the art, i realized it was SOPPING WET!!!! Over the next hour, it would seep and sop all over me and my fellow watchers...and i giggled a lot!!!  I double wrapped it in 2 ponchos as I left so that it would drip inside and not get on me as much. :)  I didn't get it signed because it was sooooo wet and I didn't feel like unwrapping it. WOOPS!

I had SUCH and amazing time...and so THANKFUL for this opportunity! I truly believe I have some of the best clients in the world!!!  So thank you to my Boston clients, their friends and whomever else I met while up there.  It was such a great time.  Thanks for welcoming me in!!!!

Here is me trying to "dry it out" and pack it.  Yea. TOO BIG!
And here is my video of the Boston Lobby trinkets...LOTS of fun things!!!!!!!
