There are a lot of "FIRSTS" in the first parts of the year!!!!

The making of a Destiny inspired outfit - with emphasis on the Apotheosis Veil :)

I have been SO EXCITED to see how this year is shaping out.  I have spent a good portion of January offline and letting myself create, see and hear differently.  I can see how my perspective almost immediately can change when I remove distractions (forcefully) from my life.  I have a lot of things cooking that I'm really excited about as well as moving into some new ideas and directions for my life.  I have this huge underlying passion to CONNECT and INSPIRE other people, but also remain who I am...and being real.  I like the exploration of the dark side and the light side.  I like knowing that I'm allowed to feel distress, but not let it take over my life.  I like that I need to learn how to let love rule in my heart so I can also love others.

On the non-deep, but fun side...I have been working really really hard on a project for comicon.  I've never done anything THIS grand before in my costuming or outfits.  Sometimes I don't create unless I have a MISSION to complete WITH that creation!  Well, here we are...the weekend of the Fan Expo of the Dallas Comicon....and I have mostly completed by Destiny inspired outfit!!!!!

I can' wait to share the FULL pictures with you...but for now...here is where I have come from....

pre-liminary ideas - found and borrowed items.
just to give you an idea....i really dig most of the looks in Destiny.....but found my inspiration to build from!

from a child's thor costume
this is me testing the metal framing.
my main inspiration was the mirrored mask part....the rest I'm trying to fill in as i go...to stay close to the main design...
decided to make the pleats...because the side picture showed ridges!
making the "ear" pieces...i sprayed them copper
the "framing" for the helmet - weather stripping & something cheap at craft store - a rope like thing.
realizing i cut them all wrong..i'm putting it together the best i can...
how i underglued felt so the fabric wouldn't melt...yes, i did that a LOT just making the pleats!
used a youtube for the cardboard/masking tape frame - the mask was my main inspiration
for the gauntlets - my interpretation of it anyways.
a more finished look for them!
my first BURN.
see how it all comes together??? WOW!
Now, i'm added the back piece to smooth out my mess.
Had a coupon for mechanic gloves...and these are the gauntlets
back end of my MESS :)  dont' worry i fix it.
this turned out SO GOOD from the side!!!!

my solution for the AMAZING details on the front...it works!
during the last segment...i completely burned my middle finger so bad....you can see the blister. :)
Thank you for stopping by!!! This has been a BLAST!!!! I can't wait to update you all on the final FINAL outfit and product....but just making the helmet was AMAZING!!!!! Hard work & determination! WOW! haahahahhaah :)  I have much much respect for fashion and costume designers.  Always have!!!!

Wednesday Wanderings : "inside your brain"

I was going to take a walk today.  You know, actually WANDER outside and see what is going on.  I just never made it out there.  My desire faded away into thoughts of things of the mind and how we let thoughts come in and make a little home.  My wandering today happened til 6am this morning and then I finally went to sleep.

I realize that I'm always trying to learn how to communicate.  Above all, I want to reciprocate love in the form of actions and words.  I got a little lost last nite and shut down.  I've been re-booting all day to bring my wandering mind back to the reality of change that is here in front of me.

I want to communicate love and passion better.  I want to learn how to take criticism even when very harsh and mean.  I immediately get emotional and take things personal when I am verbally criticized.  I haven't figured my way out of that instant stab in the heart.  I cannot control it.  I know I have the choice to take a lasting offense or not though.  I can choose forgiveness for myself and the other party involved.

So forgive. and forgive OFTEN.
open up to JOY and Happiness!

This is inside my brain.
(literally) this is my brain scan.

my brain scan

Wednesday Wanderings:
-where did you walk today?
-where did your mind take you?
-how did you feel when you came BACK???
-write a poem about today's adventure - be it reality or in your mind.

Friday Fantasy : "The world we make!"

I am consistently making new worlds.  It sometimes comes like a second nature when I'm playing with lights or abstract items.  When I am allowing myself to play for a while I end up in space.  My own outer space!

When I dream, my mind does go to other places.  It goes beyond the real and into the fantasy.  I'm inspired by movies that take us to new worlds and new solar systems.  I like seeing how stars fly past the screen when one hits the hyperdrive button!   I don't even mind the worlds they create UNDERWATER which still gives you a spacey-otherworldly-feeling.

The world we make in our Friday Fantasy is about spherical objects!   Around the house I'm sure you have a gazillion things in the form of a sphere.  Have you ever thought about making that object a part of your world?  In this image below I have a combination of some images THROUGH a lens that gave me a circle.  (circle, sphere, you get the idea)  I LOVE how the top left reminds me of the moon, the far right reminds me of headlights or a star.  My face feels like a porthole from my spaceship.  I'm just watching things as they fly by and I'm living in my little spherical world floating in space.

"Sphere" the movie.
On point with the world I'm creating, I'm inspired by movies that use objects in unique ways too.  Especially spacey-alienesque movies.  In June 2014 I bought "Sphere".  I watched it all the way through and THEN I watched it AGAIN listening to the commentary.  I realized then and there the WORLD they created had a LOT more layers that at first glance. Even if you HATED the movie, watch the commentary!   It was so neat to hear about how the world they created went from an idea to a full world.  There was a whole section on just the SPHERE alone!  I recommend it, it is a great watch!

Movie Still from "Sphere"
Your Friday Fantasy homework:
-What around your house can become a part of your "world" in your creations.
-Are you seeing more SPHERES now that we've talked about it?
-What scene can you create inspired by a SPHERE starting from the idea all the way to reality?
-Share your creations with us!  Your art is your voice!

Light in a dark dark place.

I've been thinking a lot about the world!!!!!
And I've been thinking about soooo many dark things that happen....
and yet, I find beauty and peace in knowing that I (and you) can make a difference with positivity, light, laughter and love.  Love is a powerful factor that we can overlook sometimes.  When something is happening and we don't understand....when the world feels out of control...and we hurt for the HURTING....

Find the light inside you and bring your brilliance to the world...
even if you have a small shimmer - that light against the DARKNESS is so bright...it can't be denied.

Take heart knowing you aren't alone.  There are other lights out there....igniting other lights....igniting other lights....igniting other lights.

Slow down.
See you.
See them.
See the world.

Then create out of this madness.
Create out of this love.
Create out of these things that drive you...that startle you...that hurt you...

The worst thing you can do is put away your feelings into the darkness of your heart.
Let them out into the light...see them for what they are....

and BE.

Fall Creative Retreat - Dates announced!!!!!

As I was completing the wonderful mission of the creative retreat this month...I started searching for the next feasible dates for the NEXT one.  I believe that we always need to "check-in" with ourselves and learn how to access our treasures.  I have been working non-stop for this whole month and really embracing the uniqueness and ideas that come with this assignment.

I truly am beginning to see all the things that hold hands together to form our creative spirits!!!  So, the next dates of the retreat have been announced!  I already have the registration page up, but I can give you early-bird pricing for the month of August. :)  Because space is limited to FIVE women only - we have a chance to have in-depth moments of conversation, creation and so many more things that access your treasures within.  Every single retreat will be variably different as inspiration is a full-flowing-river that you just JUMP into when ready. :)

When you sign up, drop ALL expectations and walk into the unknown with me!

In creating the IMAGE below:
These were moments of fear, moments of darkness and of heat and rain.  We had a mixture of environmental cues hit us on this day in moment of the shoot.  The sensitivity of the environment lends me to create thoughts and ideas into images that speak to me as a person.  Our art SHOULD speak to us! The question also is, are we listening?  I got a sense of FEAR because it was unknown territory.  We had walls that blocked us from ACCESSING our true creative spirit.  The heat of the moment poured down my face and I could barely keep up with the energy that was driving me forward into that blank space.  The moment I embraced my environment I was able to relax long enough to create images that brought an out-worldly feel directly into my heart.  It is THIS out-wordly feeling we try to create when we leave our comfort zones.  In the immediate future (yes, we are time travelers)...those next moments can bring a torrential downpour and lightning storm.  You've heard it said to "dance in the rain"....but how often do we sit inside and just watch.  We don't participate and we don't ENGAGE the rain.  I invite you, dear FIVE women....to embark on the next creative retreat...where 2 days...will help you to, ARISE.

Here is our new graphic for the Fall....  SIGN UP HERE

"I was told there would be no math" - Stopping the division, we are ONE.

We as peoples tend to do a lot of math in this world..................

if you are divided against yourself- you cannot stand. No matter how much photoshop you use - you cannot stand. When your division multiplies...you still can't stand. You can be many one-legged peoples trying to stand on your own - yet you can't. You started divided and multiplied divided. Come back to being whole - and stand with wholeness, not division.
